graf tour

August 6, 2008

some friends of mine were in town from memphis and we all went on a little graffiti tour on the south side. we also stopped at my favorite panderia (el nopal) for some treats, and later met up with my brother and had some chicago pizza for dinner (giordanos). i snapped a bajillion photos, and decided to post some randomly chosen ones here for your viewing pleasure. thanks to my brother for being our virtual tour guide.

our set time was up against phantom planet, thrice, motion city soundtrack, treos, and a couple of others. not bad for our first time in jersey.

home sweet home…

April 15, 2008

i’m back in the chi! after a weekend in jacksonville for a wedding, we found out the flights home were all booked up. my simple solution to this? keep the rental car and drive 19 hours home! but not without a couple of quick stops in atlanta and memphis along the way to see some friends. i rang in my 25th with drinks at the young avenue deli in memphis (thanks diana and travis) and stayed the night/morning there. after some rest, i spent the majority of my birthday in a car, but it was worth it! here are some snaps from the trip…

these last 3 are jax, atlanta, and a table-top at the young avenue deli in memphis. awesome burgers at that joint!

and now i’m home and its back to the drawing table!

congrats to james and jenna metz!!

jax

so as it turns out, jax (as far as rad hangouts and nightlife) doesnt have a lot to offer for me… but anywhere i can get the greatest food on earth (see below) is ok in my book! plus, just look at this forecast…

i’ll miss it… but not as much as i’ll miss this…

so today i met up with world famous nick b for our dreaming in stereoshoot. good times. except for the part where nick took a bit of a spill climbing into a fenced off area for a few shots. thanks to my handy skills with a plastic bag, we slowed the bleeding. thumbnailed for those who dont like blood… click it.

back from san francisco

January 19, 2008

i made my first west coast visit, to san francisco. it was splendid. exhausting at times, but the weather was more or less 60° and sunny. one of the coolest things we targetted was an alley in the mission. fully covered in art, over doors, garages, everything, from one end to the other. i dont know if its legal walls or not, but here are some shots of my favorite parts…

i just wish we had gone at a better time of the day so the lighting wasnt so harshly bright/shaded.

we also found some nice views of the city…
the top of delores park…

from the top of lombard…

and from the elevators of the weston…

on the flight back, me and amanda kept busy with some crossword puzzles, and after that, i busted out the lappy and started a new shirt design. i got a good start on it and like where its going. when i landed back in chicago, it was -4° and windy. can’t wait to get back out there.
