graf tour

some friends of mine were in town from memphis and we all went on a little graffiti tour on the south side. we also stopped at my favorite panderia (el nopal) for some treats, and later met up with my brother and had some chicago pizza for dinner (giordanos). i snapped a bajillion photos, and decided to post some randomly chosen ones here for your viewing pleasure. thanks to my brother for being our virtual tour guide.

on the front backdrop

onthefront’s new cd is out! i’ve yet to see the actual cd printed, and i also didnt make it to their cd release show here in chicago, BUT a friend of mine made it to the show and informed me that the artwork was being displayed as a backdrop while they played. i immediately scoured the myspace page for images…

turns out the image was actually the myspace header, not the actual cd art. equally awesome though! wish i could have seen it firsthand!

sarah from faceless international was kind enough to send me a photo of stephen christian (of anberlin) wearing a Faceless tee (the wonderful charity organization for which i created a logo). they whipped up some pretty rad merch!

our set time was up against phantom planet, thrice, motion city soundtrack, treos, and a couple of others. not bad for our first time in jersey.

inept photos…

every once in a great, rare, unheard of, blue moon moment, a band or clothing designer or friend with a wedding or someone else manages to pull me away from my screen and convince me to dust off the old SLR for some photos. a couple of nights ago was one of those nights. i think the photos came out alright. definitely good enough for what they were needed for. if you ever shop at the Strack & Van Til in Munster IN, say what’s up to the Drew Carey wannabe manager and ask him if you can “shoot a project with him.” He’ll probably kick you out for it.

home sweet home…

i’m back in the chi! after a weekend in jacksonville for a wedding, we found out the flights home were all booked up. my simple solution to this? keep the rental car and drive 19 hours home! but not without a couple of quick stops in atlanta and memphis along the way to see some friends. i rang in my 25th with drinks at the young avenue deli in memphis (thanks diana and travis) and stayed the night/morning there. after some rest, i spent the majority of my birthday in a car, but it was worth it! here are some snaps from the trip…

and now i’m home and its back to the drawing table!

ASIS 08

tonight i went out to dinner with the Below Zero crew to celebrate Darrow’s 21st birthday. every few months, i collaborate with the BZ guys on a magazine called ASIS, available pretty much everywhere, i hear. we walked a mile back to the car to enjoy the weather (as opposed to a cab), and along the way happened across a news stand. as i prepared to make a joke and say “hey see if they have ASIS,” i realized they actually did, hanging right in the window. ive had friends tell me theyve seen it in the malls and at borders, but this is the first time i’ve seen it anywhere. i thought it was funny/cool, so i snapped a quick shot of it. i also snagged the cover off their myspace for a better look, since i actually hadn’t seen this issue’s cover until tonight.
